![]() "We do not write because we want to; we write because we have to." - W. Somerset Maugham "If you would not be forgotten as soon as you are dead and rotting, either do things worth the writing or write things worth the reading" - Benjamin Franklin A few years ago I read The Rivan Codex by David Eddings, and in that, he speaks of the fact that people are writers, or they are not writers. Eddings claims that it's not simply a case of wanting to be a writer, either you are one, or you aren't one. I was probably fairly late discovering that I was a writer. I remember the main point of realization being in high school, our teacher asking us to write a short story in one English lesson. I wrote for the whole lesson, and actually asked if I could take it home to finish it. Well, guess what, I didn't finish it at home either, the story just took on a life of its own. I don't remember what that story was even about, now, however I do remember the sense of adventure that accompanied it. For me, writing isn't just about putting a story together with a beginning, middle and end, it's about meeting new people, exploring new places, learning new secrets; which I guess is why my primary choice of genre is fantasy. Below are a collection of short stories that I've written. I'm also going to be including here, pieces that wouldn't really classify as short stories, rather, they're little snippets of the lives of different characters. For me, that's what writing is all about, exploring the lives of each individual character.
